About the Initiative
Through the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Special Olympics is leading one of the largest initiatives for inclusion in education for young people with and without intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics Global Center for Inclusion in Education serves as a global hub for Unified Champion Schools program development and expansion as well as a center for research on the development of mindsets of inclusion. The Center will prioritize 3 programmatic focus areas:
1) Unified Champion School Programming Development
2) Unified Champion School Expansion
3) Research
Our Reach
Within the last 2 years, The Global Center has:

Created over 295 new Unified Champion Schools

Trained more than 1,336 Unified Sports coaches and teachers

Reached 2,271 new Special Olympics Athletes and Partners

Engaged more than 49,213 Youth
